Cookie Policy

Last updated: 1 May 2026

1. Scope

This Cookie Policy explains how PrepFive uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies on our marketing site at prepfive.com. The PrepFive Chrome extension does not use browser cookies; it stores small amounts of data inside the browser’s extension storage to keep you signed in and remember your settings. Those storage entries are described in our Privacy Policy.

2. Cookie categories

We use two categories of storage on the marketing site:

  • Essential— required for the site to work securely and to remember the choice you make in the consent banner. Always active.
  • Analytics— help us understand which pages and features people use so we can improve PrepFive. The underlying behavioural events are recorded anonymously in memory by default; the persistent analytics cookie that links sessions across visits is only set if you Accept in the consent banner.

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies. We do not use third-party retargeting pixels. We do not sell or share your browsing data for cross-context behavioural advertising.

3. What we set

pf_consent_v2localStoragePrepFiveEssentialRecords your consent choice (Accept or Reject) so the banner is not shown again on every visit.Until you clear it via “Cookie settings” or your browser data

ph_*_posthogCookie + localStoragePostHogAnalyticsAnonymous identifier so PostHog can count returning visits and tie events together for product analytics. Set only after you Accept.Up to 12 months (cookie); cleared if you Reject or remove your consent record

If we add or remove storage entries, we will update this page and ship the change with the corresponding code change. If a browser scan ever shows an entry not listed here, please email [email protected] and we will investigate.

4. Consent and controls

On your first visit we show a consent banner with equal-weight Accept and Reject buttons. Anonymous, in-memory analytics are collected by default until you choose — no cookie or localStorage identifier is written before that point.

Before you choose, PostHog runs in a cookieless mode (in-memory only) and does not set any cookie or localStorage entry; the same set of behavioural events is recorded but the identifier is lost on reload. After you Accept, PostHog stores a persistent identifier so visits can be linked across sessions. If you Reject, no further analytics events are sent.

You can change your choice at any time via the link below or the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. Changing your choice updates runtime behaviour immediately and clears the analytics identifier when you switch from Accept to Reject.

5. Third-party policies

Our analytics provider operates under its own policy: PostHog Privacy Policy.

6. Updates

We update this Cookie Policy when our analytics tools, consent mechanism, or storage behaviour change.
